This weekend the members of the International Movement for Monetary Reform gathered in our city of Utrecht for their yearly conference. It was an honour and a privilege to be in the presence of like-minded people.
This weekend the members of the International Movement for Monetary Reform gathered in our city of Utrecht for their yearly conference. It was an honour and a privilege to be in the presence of like-minded people.
We would not be the Money Maker people if we didn’t take the opportunity to sit some of the IMMR members down and experience the root cause of monetary corruption first hand. The organisations were welcomed around three tables that we had set up. In five minutes we explained the game and people got started.
These play sessions were exciting, with market crashes, interbank negotiations & lending, hyperinflating the game economy to back a ton of empty promises, and the resorting to a debt-jubilee. Eventually, Jaimy from the AMI, Lino Zeddies from Monetative rose as the winners of the cut-throat blood sucking game that composes the modern financial and monetary sector. Interestingly, Lino Zeddies managed this feat through conservative and responsible financial behaviour and not being lulled into a game of competition and bluff.
Of course, these participants already knew some of the systemic problems our monetary structure has to deal with. Nonetheless, playing Money Maker was a worthwhile experience for them. Though many of the participants are long-time monetary reformers and campaigners, for the first time they could experientially see and feel the mechanics of the money and credit system, after only having worked with documents and text for years. It was a clear showcase that our board game can be a tool worldwide in reaching global understanding about the monetary systems and thus, a useful tool for all IMMR members.
Our boardgame can be suited to many purposes. It can be a playful gift to your audience, which they can use to educate new people about the mechanisms of the monetary system. However, it’s also suited as a workshop tool for schools, a recruitment tool for banking personell or a fun intermezzo during company events.
We offer several options for collaboration and are always available to discuss alternatives, so feel free to reach out. We will be happy to talk to you.
